We are a screenprinting collective, making patches, clothes, tote bags, and other textiles with original designs for the people and with the people.
Our whole friend group is involved either with designing, taking photos, modelling, or generally keeping the vibe high, but we are a couple, Luuk and Selma, keeping it all together. We are living in the countryside of Zeeland, NL, where we have been experimenting with screenprinting since November 2025, figuring out how to do it ourselves by trial and error. You can read more personal stuff about us below.
Our vision
We are creating a format for artists to put their work into the world, and sell it in a simple and unprestigious way, while honouring the more practical purpose of a patch, to repair broken clothes, upcycle, and personalize them.
We do that by making something wearable and affordable out of our own drawings, the work of visual artists in our network. We even make stuff for musicians and other kinds of artists, who we can make merch for, as well as events and festivals, to help them with promotion and to give their guests something tangible for the memories.
Sustainability
We are very passionate about promoting sustainability, upcycling of clothes, and reducing the amount of clothes that end up in landfills. We get our fabrics and clothes mostly donated from thrift shops in our area, which are surprisingly enthusiastic about giving clothes, bedsheets or other textiles with stains or holes to us, because otherwise they have to throw them out, which is also not in alignment with their vision as a secondhand shop. So it is very much a win-win situation.
Thank you for checking our stuff out❤️ We hope you feel inspired to customize or repair your clothes, support us, and the artists involved. Do not hesitate to reach out if you have an idea, a design, or something else.
Much love, Patches for the People
Selma Thygesen: I am 24 years old and come from Denmark. Other than the patches, I make music. I am a singer/songwriter who makes experimental, acoustic, slightly psychedelic songs about life and the human experience. I have travelled around Europe the past couple of years and have spent a lot of time in nature in community with like-minded travellers and hippies, at alternative festivals and other places with focus on community, spirituality, mindfulness, and connection with nature. I enjoy many different genres of music like jazz, folk, electronic music, and feel at home in the rave and party scenes. I come from a family of designers and artists, and drawing has been a way of coming together since I was a child.
Luuk Meijaard: I am 26 years old and come from Middelburg. I am a multidisciplined artist who produces and plays different types of electronic music, mostly experimental drum and bass, jungle, and techno, but I also love to express myself through dance and flow arts. I am passionate about philosophy, mindfulness, and other spiritual practices. I also like to create, engineer, and build things like speakers, campervans, and of course, printing patches!. I choose to live a free life full of exploration and let myself be guided by the flow, focusing on connection, authenticity, awareness, and meaning, and I strive to express these values in my art to inspire others.
